MathJax Test Page

This page is not really intended to perform any miraculous, or useful actions. It is simply a platform to test some of the capabilities of the remarkable MathJax Javascript mathematical typesetting plugin for web pages. This is a long-standing staple of the mathematical typesetting world, and is currently in version 3.

The product allows the insertion of text inline using a variety of different input languages, although \(\LaTeX\) would be my personal favourite. However, it also accepts input from TeX and MathML.

Roots of the Quadratic Equation

Perhaps a more useful example of some of the power and elegance of the MathJax package, however, might be to display the roots of the traditional, simple quadratic equation, \(ax^2+bx+c=0\):

$$ x=b\pm\frac{\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}$$

In all honesty, I am not sure that I remember this chestnut with complete accuracy. However, the elegance of the typography displayed is really the effect that I was trying to stress.

Further Explorations ...

For the moment, that slate is blank. However, I intend to return in the future, and explore this powerful tool in more detail. Perhaps the words of the inimitable Buzz Lightyear, 'To \(\infty\) and beyond!' are the most appropriate.
